This painting of
Dutchman’s breeches was chosen for the biennial Focus on Nature
exhibit at the NY State Museum in 2006. I was thrilled to get juried in. I had
entered work that was accepted in 1994 and 1996, but being busy with the
gallery and painting other subjects I had not been able to make time to
work on something to enter since. Last November I put all other
projects aside to do a canvas of these delicate blossoms. Through the
years the Focus on Nature show has grown from twenty-three New
York State artists in 1990, to an international exhibit of natural
history illustrators. This year’s artwork was selected from a pool of
over four hundred works representing eighteen countries. Ninety-six
pieces from twelve countries were chosen.
